Its strongest use is not to announce good or bad luck, but to show which life scenes may receive repeated attention during that solar year. The return Ascendant, return Sun, Moon, angular houses, house rulers, and repeated contacts can describe the annual stage: where the story is likely to ask for participation. The annual theme is the line that keeps returning across several indicators, while the climate of the year describes the emotional and practical atmosphere in which choices are made. A return chart can support a conditional conclusion such as “home and public responsibility need deliberate balancing this year” when several factors agree. It cannot guarantee a promotion, breakup, illness, move, windfall, or other event. Read it as an annual map of emphasis, then verify it through the natal chart, actual circumstances, consent, resources, and behavior.

A common absolute reading says that a return planet in a house guarantees the event associated with that house.
