How to read the Sun

  • Read the sign as the style of self-expression, not the whole person. Aries Sun seeks direct assertion; Virgo Sun seeks usefulness and refinement; Scorpio Sun seeks depth and control of hidden material.
  • Read the house as where the person needs to be seen. Sun in the 10th wants public achievement; Sun in the 4th needs private roots; Sun in the 6th builds identity through craft, service, and routines.
  • Compare the Sun with the Moon and Ascendant. If they conflict, the person may act one way, need another thing emotionally, and appear as a third style socially.

Distortion patterns

  • Weak or pressured Sun can show low confidence, fear of visibility, dependence on external approval, or difficulty choosing a direction.
  • Overheated Sun can become pride, dominance, inability to share attention, or treating disagreement as personal attack.

Examples

Sun square Saturn

Identity meets pressure and standards. It can feel like delayed confidence, strict self-judgment, or father/authority themes; with maturity it becomes discipline and earned authority.

Sun in the 10th house

Visibility is tied to career and public role. The person needs to build a name, direction, and responsibility in the outside world.
