How to judge the phase strength?
The strength of the aspect does not only depend on the tolerance, but also depends on the stacking of multiple conditions: whether the two stars themselves are heavy, whether the placement point is obvious, whether the theme is repeated, and whether this line has dominance in the entire chart.
Tolerance is important, but it is never the only criterion
When many beginners see the phase, they first focus on the tolerance. Tolerance does matter because it relates to the closeness of contact, but it is only one part of the equation. If two planets are already of high weight, are in key houses, and echo the same theme repeatedly, even if the tolerance is not the tightest, it may still be very weighty. On the contrary, if a very tight aspect falls on the edge of the entire disk, it may not be the protagonist.
Judgments of strength and weakness must always be put back into the overall structure.
Really weighty aspects usually meet the requirements of "tight, heavy, obvious, and repetitive" at the same time
Mature chart readers will often look for several signals to appear at the same time: the aspect itself is tight enough, the two planets are important enough, they are in an angular house or main axis, and they repeat the same life theme with other configurations in the chart. This aspect is worthy of being included in the text, because it does not appear at a single point, but the entire disk bears witness to it.
When a line is repeatedly emphasized, it truly changes from presence to dominance.
A strong aspect does not mean that it is good or bad, but that it can speak better.
Many people get nervous when they hear strong aspects. In fact, strong aspects only mean that they have more say in this chart. A strong harmonious aspect will create resources more obviously, and a strong tense aspect will create pressure and action force more obviously. The key is not whether it is strong or not, but what this strength is serving, blocking, and amplifying.
Reading strength and weakness is essentially reading "whose words are the loudest."
The really important thing about phase is not to write it all, but to filter out the skeleton first.
It is easiest to be overwhelmed by phase lists. A truly useful reading method should not regard every item as equally important, but should have a sense of screening: which items are the real skeleton? Which ones are just background supplements? Why do these have to be included in the main line? As long as the screening logic is clear, the understanding will become significantly cleaner.
People who can judge strengths and weaknesses are usually more likely to grasp the main line of the entire game.
