Why am I afraid of commitment?

Many people would say they are "afraid of entering into relationships." But what really puts people back is often not the love and intimacy itself, but the weight that comes with the promise once it lands. You may be afraid of losing freedom, flexibility, and other possibilities, or you may be afraid that once you agree, you will have to bear it to the end.

So commitment fear is not a simple label of indifference, it is often an entire risk assessment system.

The scenario of backing off is often more diagnostic than the phrase "I'm afraid of commitment."

Some people are afraid of commitment because once they agree, it means that they have to bear other people's emotions and future; some people are afraid of losing other options and afraid of the door closing. The former is more Saturnian, the latter more Uranus. Both will retreat, but the psychological background is completely different.
