Conjunction

A conjunction means two planets occupy nearly the same zodiacal degree. Their functions fuse, amplify one another, and become difficult to separate in lived behavior.

Neither benefic nor malefic by itself. The planets, sign, house, dignity, and aspects decide whether the fusion feels smooth, pressured, obsessive, creative, or blocked.

Orb

Use 0-8° as a normal working orb. Sun or Moon conjunctions can be read up to about 10° when the chart supports it. Outer-planet conjunctions need tighter judgment, often 3-5° unless angular or repeated.

How to read a conjunction

First identify the faster planet and the slower planet. The faster planet usually expresses daily behavior; the slower planet colors it with a deeper theme.
Then read the house. The house is where the fused function becomes visible: identity in the 1st, money in the 2nd, communication in the 3rd, family in the 4th, career in the 10th, and so on.
Finally check whether the conjunction is helped or pressured by other aspects. A conjunction receiving a trine behaves very differently from one locked inside a square or opposition.

Strong versus weak conjunctions

Exact conjunctions under 1° are loud. They often become a defining psychological signature rather than a minor detail.
Angular conjunctions near the Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant, or IC are stronger because the chart angles make planets visible.
Out-of-sign conjunctions still work by degree, but they are less blended. The planets are close, yet they speak through different sign styles.

What not to say

Do not say conjunctions are always good because the planets are together. Mars-Saturn, Moon-Pluto, or Venus-Neptune can be powerful but psychologically complicated.
Do not read only the aspect name. A Sun-Mercury conjunction and a Saturn-Pluto conjunction are both conjunctions, but they describe completely different life material.

Examples

Sun conjunct Mercury

Identity and thinking are fused. The person often speaks from the self directly, learns through naming and explaining, and may identify strongly with intelligence or opinions.

Venus conjunct Mars

Attraction and desire move together. This can be charisma, direct romantic pursuit, aesthetic courage, or tension between wanting harmony and wanting immediate action.

Moon conjunct Saturn

Emotional needs meet restraint and duty. The person may mature early, contain feelings, fear dependency, or build deep reliability after learning emotional safety.
