Astrology is not just about the sun sign

When people say "what's your zodiac sign", they usually refer to your sun sign. The sun is indeed important. It looks at self-identity, vitality and development direction. But the sun is just a point in the horoscope, not a complete personality.

If you only look at your sun sign, it's like looking at the title of a book. You can know the theme, but not the chapters, tone, conflict, and ending. A complete horoscope also looks at the Moon, Ascendant, ascendant, personal planets, houses and aspects.

The Moon looks at security, emotional responses, attachment styles and privacy needs. The Ascendant looks at one's way into the world, first impressions and entrance into the entire chart. Many people feel that their sun sign does not look like their own because the moon or ascendant has a higher weight.

For example, if the Sun in Aries is originally direct, but if the Moon is in Pisces, Cancer rising, and Mars is in the twelfth house, this person may not appear to be in conflict, but rather sensitive, conflict-avoidant, and needs a lot of emotional confirmation before taking action.

The same sun sign, but different placements in the house, will lead to much different life performance. When the Sun is in the tenth house, the sense of existence is often related to career, public status, and achievements; when the Sun is in the fourth house, the core issues may be closer to family, private space, and inner security; when the Sun is in the ninth house, the person may care more about meaning, distance, learning, and faith.

So the zodiac sign answers "how to express it", and the palace position answers "in which field it takes place". If you only look at the horoscope without looking at the palace, the reading will be hanging in the air.

Aspects are the relationships between planets. The aspect between the Sun and Saturn will bring self-expression with responsibility, pressure or fear of failure; the aspect between the Sun and Jupiter will amplify self-confidence, belief and expansion; the aspect between the Sun and Neptune may bring about ideals, sensitivity and blurred boundaries.

For the same Leo Sun, some are bright and outgoing, others are cautious and repressed, some are idealistic, and some have a strong sense of power. The difference often comes from house placement and aspects.

Not every point in a chart is equally important. Configurations that are in angular houses, close to the four axes, involved in close aspects, become the ruler of the life, and are connected to the sun and moon personal planets will have a higher weight.

If the Sun is quieter and the Moon is in an angular sign, closely aspected, and has a strong ascendant, then of course you may be more like the Moon or Ascendant. Astrology is not about letting the sun sign explain everything, but about who has the most say in the entire chart.

Once you open your chart, don't just stop at your sun sign. First record the sun, moon, and ascendant; then look for the ruler of the life; then look at the sun in the sign, the moon in the sign, the ruler of the life in the sign, and the close aspects within three degrees.
