Many people say "I have such-and-such configuration", but a configuration is not an isolated label. A complete configuration at least includes: which planet, which sign it is in, which house it is in, who it is in aspect with, how closely the aspect is, and what the weight of this planet is in the entire chart.

Just saying "Venus in Aquarius" or "Moon in the 8th house" is an incomplete message. They are just part of the configuration.

The planets illustrate what functions are at work. The Moon rules security, Venus rules values ​​and attractions, Mars rules actions and desires, and Saturn rules responsibility and structure.

The zodiac sign indicates the style in which this function is expressed. For example, Mars in Aries and Mars in Libra are both about action and conflict, but one is more direct and the other cares more about relationship balance.

The house position indicates in which area of life this power appears. With Mars in the tenth house, action is more likely to be directed toward career and public status; with Mars in the seventh house, conflicts and advancements are more likely to manifest through relationships.

Aspects describe how this force interacts with other functions. When Mars squares Saturn, there may be resistance and training in action; when Mars trines Jupiter, it is easier to gain faith and expansion in action.

Not every configuration is suitable for writing the main conclusion. The weight depends on whether it is in an angular house, whether it is closely aspected, whether it involves the Sun and Moon ascending lord, and whether it points to the same theme with multiple pieces of evidence.

If a configuration appears only once, it is probably just a reference; if it is repeatedly supported by houses, aspects, house rulers, and transits, it is more central.

The same configuration behaves differently on different disks because its environments are different. If Venus in Scorpio is supported by Saturn, they may be affectionate and stable; if they are strongly triggered by Uranus, they may both desire depth and fear losing freedom; if they are in the twelfth house, their love may be more secretive or idealistic.

Record the planet, sign, house, ruler, aspects, birth-time confidence, and the real question. Check the pattern across more than one situation and keep a counterexample. A placement cannot diagnose health, identify a person’s motives, guarantee a relationship, or replace professional evidence for medical, legal, financial, or safety decisions.

A planet close to an angle may be visible, but visibility can be demanding as well as empowering. A planet in its own sign may have a coherent function, but coherence does not guarantee an easy life area. A difficult aspect may create friction that becomes skill through practice, while a harmonious aspect may remain unused when the person has no outlet. Do not give every placement equal authority. A beautiful interpretation that has no link to the question remains background material. Write the reason for inclusion so another reader can tell whether the placement is evidence or decoration.

Replace “this placement makes you” with “this function may be easier to express when.” Then name the condition, the observable scene, and the counterexample. This grammar is not cosmetic: it keeps the planet, sign, house, and aspect connected to real circumstances and leaves room for development, culture, and choice.

If removing one placement leaves the whole conclusion unchanged, it was supporting evidence rather than the main cause. Say that explicitly. This small audit stops a familiar symbol from carrying more explanatory weight than the chart and the real situation can support.

In astrology, positioning means how a planet functions through a sign, takes a seat in a house, participates in a Phase or aspect, and receives a particular weight. The planet answers what function is present, the sign how it operates, the house where it becomes a scene, and aspects how it interacts. A placement becomes useful only when these layers agree enough to answer a question. “Mars in a sign” is not a complete reading until its house, ruler, condition, and contacts are known.

Start with the planet's function and condition, then the sign's style, the house's life arena, and the closest aspects. Check the ruler of the house, angularity, and whether the same topic repeats elsewhere. Weight comes from relevance, tightness, visibility, and repetition, not from dramatic wording. The conditional conclusion is a relationship-to-work skill when limits are practiced, not a promise of service success.

Two people can share a placement and use it through different houses, rulers, resources, and histories. A favorable sign cannot rescue an impossible context, and a difficult condition does not erase learning.
